Know Before You Go: Pro-Tips & Policies
Coronado Golf Course is famous for its “old-school” approach. To make the most of your visit, keep these key details in mind:
1. Coronado is CASH-ONLY. We do not accept credit cards, digital payments, or ACH. There is no ATM on-site, so please plan accordingly!
Coronado remains a CASH-ONLY facility for all on-site purchases. This includes green fees, range buckets, club rentals, and beverages. We’re committed to keeping our golf course the most affordable family-friendly option in Scottsdale. One way we achieve this is by minimizing costs, including the increasingly high fees associated with credit card transactions. By eliminating these rising costs, we can avoid adding hidden fees, service charges, or raising prices for our valued golfers. Thank you for your understanding and continued support in helping us maintain our commitment to affordability.
- ⚠️ Note: There is no ATM on-site, so be sure to stop by one of the many banks or convenience stores near Scottsdale or Hayden Roads before you arrive.
2. Lighted Range & Course Hours
Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, we have the longest hours in Scottsdale:
- The Course: Open from 7:00 AM until Sunset, Monday – Sunday. Our first tee time is at 7 AM and our last tee time is two hours before sunset.
- Lighted Driving Range: Open daily from 7:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
- Last bucket is sold at 8:00 PM nightly.
3. The Legendary “Happy Hour” (4:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
Our nightly Happy Hour is a Scottsdale staple, offering the best value in the Valley:
- Range Buckets: Discounts on 80-ball and 120-ball buckets.
- Drink Specials: * $3.00 Domestic Cans (Coors, Miller Lite, etc.)
- $2.00 PBR and Keystone Light (Available ALL DAY!)
4. No Tee Times Needed
True to its community roots, Coronado is one of the last “walk-on” friendly courses. While you can call the pro shop to check on league schedules, we typically operate on a first-come, first-served basis for daily play.
5. General Dress Code Guidelines
The Coronado Golf Course and Lighted Driving Range is well-known for being one of the most relaxed and “casual” golf facilities in Scottsdale. While it doesn’t have the strict formal requirements of some private valley clubs, it does maintain some basic standards to respect the game. The prevalent rule at Coronado is to dress comfortably to enjoy your round, however, we ask that your attire respects the game of golf and those who are playing our course today.
- Shirts Required: While collared polo-style shirts are recommended, the course is known to be flexible for casual play and T-Shirts are allowed.
- Appropriate Bottoms: Standard golf attire like slacks or golf shorts is recommended.
- Footwear: Soft-spiked golf shoes or standard athletic/running shoes are required. Metal spikes are strictly prohibited to protect the greens.
- Hats: Hats and visors are allowed but should be worn forward-facing.
It’s a casual and family-friendly environment. The facility takes pride in its “all-skill-levels-are-welcome” atmosphere, making it a popular choice for those who might feel intimidated by stricter clubs.
6. Alcohol & Cooler Policies
- ⚠️ ONLY alcoholic beverages purchased in the pro shop are allowed on the premises. Arizona law A.R.S. 4-244 prohibits alcoholic beverages from being brought onto the golf course. You may purchase beer and wine at the Pro Shop.
- Pro Shop Selection: The shop sells a variety of domestic and imported beers, etc. and non-alcoholic drinks like water, Gatorade and soda.
- No cooler/ice chests: No coolers of any type are allowed on the premises without permission.Check with the pro shop before entering the course.
